Type “technology” into Google and you will see that the top suggested search is “technology news,” but look again and you’ll see the second suggested search is “technology in the classroom.” Why is technology such a hot topic? Because it’s controversial. How can technology be incorporated into the classroom to enhance the learning experience? Is it really an effective tool?
Textbooks and worksheets are being replaced by computers and tablets, and the days of Oregon Trail are being replaced by sophisticated mobile apps; millions of mobile apps. Today, electronic devices are viewed as technology. Tomorrow, electronic devices will be viewed as a way of life—an extension of ourselves. And if we can’t perform our daily activities through the help of our devices, we’ll find another way, and that includes the way we learn.
